Radish WATERMELON, also known as Red Meat radish, is a striking winter radish variety producing round roots with green and white skin, 5–10 cm in diameter. Inside, the flesh is pomegranate-pink to purple-pink, crunchy, juicy, mildly pungent and pleasantly sweet.
This mid-season variety originates from China and is also known as Misato Rose or Watermelon radish, referring to its rounded shape and colourful interior that resembles a sliced watermelon. Its flavour is gentle, sweet and not spicy, making it ideal even for those who prefer milder radishes.
WATERMELON radish is a staple of Asian cuisine, widely used both for flavour and decoration. It is excellent grated into salads, sliced for carpaccio, pickled, fermented, or preserved in brine. The roots can be enjoyed throughout the winter.
The young leaves are also edible, either raw or cooked like spinach.
