A very much underrated species from Virginia. Named after the botanist Mark Catesby, this species has the usual mid-green leaves with obvious veining and are almost stemless. The scape rises to around 35 cms high but may reach up to 50 cms in larger colonies. The flower is a pale to strong pink in colour, held on a short stem rising from the centre of the 3 leaflets. This stem may hold the flower above the foliage but more often it will hold the flower at the same height. The petals are slightly reflexed, sepals are green and the ovary is pale green also.
