Allium ‘Toabago’ is an exceptionally unusual ornamental allium, formerly known and sold under the name ‘Spider’. Its distinctive flower heads feature long, slender stems radiating in different directions, creating a spectacular shape reminiscent of a spider or a burst of purple fireworks.
Small violet-purple star-shaped flowers appear at the ends of the radiating flower stems, giving the entire bloom an airy, architectural appearance. Unlike the traditional globe-shaped flower heads of many ornamental alliums, TOABAGO brings a playful and contemporary character to the garden.
Growing approximately 50–60 cm tall, TOABAGO is an excellent choice for perennial borders, gravel gardens, naturalistic planting schemes and larger containers. For the most impressive effect, plant several bulbs together in groups, allowing their unusual purple flower heads to rise elegantly above surrounding plants.
🌸 Excellent for cutting and drying! The unusual architectural flower heads add character to fresh bouquets and floral arrangements, while the dried seed heads can also be used in decorative displays.
🐝 Like other ornamental alliums, TOABAGO is an excellent choice for a pollinator-friendly garden. Its flowers attract bees, bumblebees and other beneficial insects. Beautifully combines with ornamental grasses, salvias, lavender, echinacea and other alliums.
