Description

❤️👑 RED BEAUTY – a majestic Crown Imperial with rich red blooms

Crown Imperial ‘Red Beauty’ (Fritillaria imperialis ‘Red Beauty’) is a spectacular spring-flowering bulb with tall, upright stems crowned by clusters of large, hanging bell-shaped flowers. The blooms range from rich scarlet and deep red to dark orange-red, topped by the characteristic crown of glossy green leaves.

Growing approximately 75–100 cm tall, RED BEAUTY creates an impressive architectural accent in spring borders. Its strong vertical form makes it particularly striking among tulips, daffodils and other lower-growing spring bulbs. It flowers in April–May and is fully hardy when planted in a suitable, well-drained position.

🌿 A beautiful flower with an additional garden benefit

Crown Imperial bulbs and plants have a distinctive natural scent that moles, voles and other rodents tend to dislike. For this reason, fritillarias are often planted among other valuable flower bulbs where their scent may help discourage underground pests.

For best results, plant RED BEAUTY in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or light partial shade. A useful planting tip is to place the large bulb slightly on its side, helping prevent water from collecting in its hollow centre during wet weather.

🐝 The impressive spring flowers are also attractive to bees and other pollinators.

🌷 Beautifully combines with yellow and white daffodils, contrasting tulips, alliums and other spring-flowering bulbs.
