🧡💛 KINGSDAY – a spectacular daffodil in royal orange and gold
Trumpet Daffodil ‘Kingsday’ (Narcissus ‘Kingsday’) is a striking spring variety combining bright golden-yellow petals with a contrasting deep orange trumpet. The RHS officially classifies ‘Kingsday’ as a Division 1 trumpet daffodil with the colour code Y-O – yellow perianth and orange corona. Its flowers can reach approximately 9.8 cm across, creating an impressive display in the spring garden.
Growing approximately 40–45 cm tall, KINGSDAY has sturdy stems and large, classic trumpet-shaped flowers. It is ideal for borders, flower beds, naturalistic plantings, containers and cut flower gardens. Current DeVroomen catalogue information lists the variety at 40–45 cm and offers it in 14/16 bulb size.
🌷 Planted in groups, KINGSDAY creates a brilliant display of warm yellow and orange tones. Its bold colouring pairs beautifully with blue Muscari, purple tulips, white daffodils and other early spring bulbs.
Like other daffodils, KINGSDAY is a hardy perennial bulb that can return and multiply for years when planted in a suitable location. Daffodils are also naturally unappealing to deer and many rodents, making them an excellent choice for low-maintenance spring planting.
🌿 Particularly beautiful when combined with blue grape hyacinths, purple and white tulips, crocuses and other contrasting daffodil varieties.
